211 To Tokyo by Night Train (4/4: At the Filming Locations of a Drama That Swept the Nation).

北千住駅でつくばエクスプレスから東武鉄道に乗り換えます。
長距離列車が数多く走る区間ですが、目的地は都会の中でも閑散とした駅なので、短距離区間運転の各駅停車に乗車します。
Transfer from the Tsukuba Express to the Tobu Railway at Kita-Senju Station.
Although this section sees a great deal of long-distance train traffic, my destination is a quiet station within the city, so I will take a local train that operates only over a short distance.

今はとある大学となったこの校舎、以前は中学校のものでした。
この建物に見覚えのある方は、私と近しい世代だと思います。
This school building, which is now part of a university, formerly belonged to a junior high school.
If this building looks familiar to you, I imagine you belong to a generation close to mine.

この場所は、東武鉄道の堀切駅。
This location is Horikiri Station on the Tobu Railway line.

駅から、荒川の堤防沿いに歩いてみることにします。
I decide to try walking from the station along the Arakawa River levee.
しばらく歩くと、京成電鉄の荒川鉄橋と出会いました。
東京スカイツリーを背景に、成田空港からの特急列車が駆け抜けて行きます。
この場所では、この鉄橋の架け替え工事が行われていましたので、この迫力ある光景も変わっていくことでしょう。
After walking for a while, I came across the Keisei Railway’s Arakawa Railway Bridge.

Replacement work for this railway bridge was underway at this location, so this impressive scene will likely change.

この(東武鉄道）の鉄橋を背景とした、堤防のシーン。
「あのテレビドラマ」のオープニングです。
この風景から、当時の私の記憶が蘇ってきます。
そして、今も交流のある「鐵道部の仲間たち」も、この頃からのお付き合い。
感慨深いです。
