213 A short trip to Korea packed with activities ( 2 / 10 )

★

I set foot on Korean soil at Busan’s Gimhae Airport.

I decided to take the light rail from the airport to downtown Busan.

This is my first time taking a train in Korea.

Since this train operates with “fully unmanned automation,” it was easy to take shots like this one from the very front.

The first discovery of this trip.

In Japan, standing-style eateries serving noodles like soba are common, but here, there was a stand selling “oden” (fish-paste cakes)!

I asked a friend from South Korea, and they told me that oden is a specialty of Busan, a port city.

I had it for lunch right away!

The next discovery.

There were so many medical-related advertisements in the train stations of this country, but you can tell what this clinic specializes in even without being able to read the text, can’t you?

And what’s more…

Even on subways in major cities, you can bring your bicycle right on board on weekends and holidays!

I have arrived at Busan Station.

Although a typhoon was approaching Japan that day, the weather here was wonderfully clear.

This is the Toyoko Inn, where I’m staying for the first night.

Since I can easily make reservations via the app from Japan, I’ll be staying at hotels in this chain for all three nights of my trip.

(I took the train three times during this leg of the journey, bringing the total for the trip so far to six.)
