215 A short trip to Korea packed with activities ( 4 / 10 )

It is the second day of the trip.

Busan Station in the morning.

I am setting out at sunrise.

A KTX train waiting to depart for Seoul.

The idling sound of the motor is echoing.

Last night, I was cautioned for getting too close to the tip—even though I was within the permissible range—so this morning I am shooting from this area instead.

I used “first class” this time as well.

The morning sun is dazzling, so everyone is closing the window blinds.

The train is currently traveling on the KTX high-speed line.

KORAIL’s dedicated high-speed lines merge with conventional lines in major cities to serve the same stations.

The current speed is 273 km/h, but the ride is stable.

I learned this for the first time on this trip: in KTX first class, I was served snacks in a box like this.

By the way, as of writing this blog post, the “unboxing ceremony” has not yet taken place.

I think I will keep it as it is and simply enjoy looking at it for the time being.

I got off at Yeongdeungpo Station, just before Seoul Station.

I will be staying here for two nights, starting today.

After dropping off my luggage at the accommodation, I’ll head to Seoul Station.

I was unable to secure a reservation for the Mugunghwa express train as originally planned and had to make a last-minute schedule change, but I am now heading to today’s destination—which has turned out to be even more enjoyable as a result.

The old Seoul Station building has an atmosphere that evokes a sense of history.

On that day, a Christian gathering was taking place in the area, creating a lively atmosphere.

It’s about a 15-minute walk from Seoul Station.

This is the ‘Seosomun Crossing’ I’ve always wanted to visit.

This is a major road with two lanes in each direction; until quite recently, an elevated roadway ran alongside it, so traffic remains heavy even during the day.

Furthermore, there is a gap of only about four or five car lengths between the site and the east side or the intersection.

That is why traffic controllers were constantly shouting “Move up! Move up!” to guide vehicles forward toward the crossing; they would even forcefully stop cars attempting to enter the crossing when there was no space ahead by shouting at the top of their lungs while banging on the hoods with all their might.

Due to my subsequent schedule, I only spent about 20 minutes there, but it is the kind of place where you could easily lose yourself for hours if you had the time.

Well, time is running short, so I’ll be moving on to the next location.
