209 To Tokyo by Overnight Train ( 2/4: A Sleeper Train I was able to book on the spot ).

いくつかの「イベント」を終え、JR大阪駅に着いた時は発車時刻の５分前でした。
After finishing a few “events,” I arrived at JR Osaka Station just five minutes before the scheduled departure time.

ホームに上がると、ほどなく東京行きの寝台列車「サンライズ」がやってきました。
Shortly after I went up to the platform, the “Sunrise” sleeper train bound for Tokyo arrived.

デビューから25年を超える車両ですが、丁寧なメンテナンスがなされ、未だ美しい光沢をはなっています。
Although this vehicle entered service over 25 years ago, it has been meticulously maintained and still retains a beautiful luster.

そして今夜の「お宿」は、こちら⬇️です。
And here ⬇️ is where I’m staying tonight.
何度か利用しているので、過ごし方にもなれてきました。
I’ve used this place a few times now, so I’ve gotten used to how to spend my time here.

東京に向けて出発です。
The train is departing for Tokyo.
大阪駅から淀川を越えて、新大阪駅を通過するまでの夜景です。
This is the night view from Osaka Station, across the Yodo River, and past Shin-Osaka Station.

深夜１時の京都駅。
Kyoto Station at 1 a.m.
毎日この駅通っていますが、この誰もいない光景は新鮮です。
I pass through this station every day, but this scene—with absolutely no one around—feels fresh and new.

夜が明けた、朝のラウンジです。
次に乗った時は、ここでお弁当でもいただこうかな。。
It is the morning lounge, now that day has broken.
Next time I come here, I think I might have a bento box.

右手に望む相模湾。
この列車では、数少ない海の風景です。
Sagami Bay comes into view on the right.
This is one of the few spots on this train route where you can see the ocean.

品川駅から東京駅まで。
From Shinagawa Station to Tokyo Station.
品川駅では常磐線の特急列車が、東京駅では東北新幹線が、それぞれ北へと向かう列車たちと出会います。
At Shinagawa Station, limited express trains on the Joban Line—and at Tokyo Station, the Tohoku Shinkansen—meet trains heading north.

東京駅到着後は、何人もの人が名残を惜しんで撮影されていました。
最近感じるのですが、このように「鉄道好き」の人達が増えて、裾野が広がることは喜ばしいことだと思います。
After arriving at Tokyo Station, many people took photos, reluctant to part with the train.
I’ve been feeling lately that it is a wonderful thing to see the number of “railway enthusiasts” increase and the base of the hobby expand in this way.

一仕事終えたサンライズ。
今夜の業務までの時間を過ごすために、車庫へと向かって行きました。
（この旅、まだしばらく続きます。）
Sunrise, having finished a job.
The train headed to the depot to spend the time until its next scheduled run tonight.
(This journey will continue for a while yet.)
