今回の旅は、JR飯田線。
This trip is the JR Iida Line.
ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、日本屈指と言って良いほどの風情のある路線です。
As many of you may know, this is one of the most travel-friendly routes in Japan.

大まかなルートですが、東海道新幹線の豊橋駅から飯田線と中央東線で塩尻まで向かいます(赤い線の部分)。
It’s a rough route, but from Toyohashi Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen, take the Iida Line and Chuo East Line to Shiojiri (red line).
日帰りツアーなので、その後は名古屋まで一気に戻りますが(黄色い線の部分)、塩尻までの行程は乗りごたえのある路線です。
Since it is a one-day tour, I will return to Nagoya at once (yellow line part), but the journey to Shiojiri is a challenging route.

当初はスタートの豊橋駅から10:08発の特急・伊那路号で飯田に向かう予定でしたが、、
Initially, I was planning to take the Limited Express Inaji from Toyohashi Station, which started at 10:08, to Iida, but …

途中までの区間をゆっくり楽しみたかったので、先行の9:57発の普通・豊川行きに乗車しました。
I wanted to enjoy the section halfway, so I took the preceding 9:57 Local train bound for Toyokawa.

豊川行きの普通列車で進むルートです。
It is a route that goes by a Local train bound for Toyokawa.
この飯田線、豊橋から途中の平井信号場(上の地図の、下から３つ目の◯印の部分)まではJR飯田線と名古屋鉄道の線路共用区間です。
From this Iida Line, Toyohashi to the Hirai Junction on the way (the third ◯ mark from the bottom on the map above) is the shared section of the JR Iida Line and Nagoya Railroad.

豊川橋梁(上の地図の、下から２つ目の◯印の部分)を渡っています。
Cross the Toyogawa Bridge (the second ◯ mark from the bottom on the map above).
この列車が走る飯田線の線路と、左側２本の東海道線の線路はJR東海に所属し、
The Iida Line track on which this train runs and the two Tokaido Line tracks on the left belong to JR Central.
右側の線路は名古屋鉄道に所属しています。
The track on the right belongs to Nagoya Railroad.
飯田線の豊川・飯田方面行きと名古屋鉄道の名古屋方面行きの列車は、この飯田線の線路を通り、
Trains bound for Toyokawa and Iida on the Iida Line and bound for Nagoya on the Nagoya Railroad run on this Iida Line.
飯田線と名古屋鉄道の豊橋行きの列車は、右側の名古屋鉄道の線路を通ります。
Trains bound for Toyohashi on the Iida Line and Nagoya Railroad run on the Nagoya Railroad track on the right.

豊橋行きの列車が通る線路です。孤高のプライドを感じますね。
This is the railroad track for trains bound for Toyohashi. I feel a solitary pride.

名古屋鉄道の快速特急・豊橋行きとすれ違います。
It passes by the Limited Express train bound for Toyohashi on the Nagoya Railroad.

平井信号場です。
Hirai Junction.
左方向に進むと名古屋鉄道の名古屋方面ですが、この列車は右手に進路を取って行きます。
To the left is the Nagoya Railroad towards Nagoya, but this train goes to the right.
長い、長い飯田線の旅。まずは最初のハイライトを楽しみました。
A long, long trip on the Iida line. First of all, I enjoyed the first highlight.
