オトナ4人が「パン屋さん」で大盛り上がりの後、次の列車を目指して岐阜駅に戻ります。
After the four adults have a blast at the bakery, they head back to Gifu Station to catch the next train.

次に乗る列車は、岐阜駅11時08分発の特急「ひだ」７号で富山駅を目指します。
The next train we will take is the Hida No. 7 express train departing from Gifu Station at 11:08am, heading for Toyama Station.

外観はメタリック感に溢れる、ステンレスボディ。
The stainless steel body has a metallic appearance.

一般車の車内は暖色系でまとめられており、落ち着いた雰囲気の中で、14時51分着の終着駅富山までのおよそ３時間40分の旅となります。
The interior of the standard cars is decorated in warm colors, creating a calm atmosphere for the approximately 3 hour and 40 minute journey to the final destination, Toyama, arriving at 2:51pm.

富山までの道中、私たちのメンバーで「このHC85系車両は、ディーゼルカーなのか？電車なのか？」という議論になりました。
JR東海さんのホームページには「ハイブリッド車両」との記載があります。
確かに、この車両の型式に冠せられた「HC」は「Hybrid Car」に由来するものです。
またWikipediaでは、この車両を「気動車 = ディーゼルカー」と記載されています。
しかしながら、、
On the way to Toyama, our group got into a discussion about whether this HC85 series vehicle was a diesel car or an electric train.
JR Central’s website states that it is a “hybrid vehicle.”
Indeed, the “HC” in this vehicle’s model number stands for “Hybrid Car.”
Wikipedia also describes this vehicle as a “diesel railcar.”

明らかに「電車」です。
私達の議論に着地点は見つかりませんでしたが、「酒の肴」にはなっていました。
これも、気の合う仲間との鉄道旅行の醍醐味ですね。
ちなみに、この車両は高い製造技術、美しい容姿と快適性などが評価され、複数の賞を受けています。
The vehicle type displayed on this vehicle is marked with “モ” which is the Japanese abbreviation for motor, and from this point it can be said that it is “clearly an electric train.”
Our discussion didn’t reach a conclusion, but it did make for good conversation over drinks.
This is also one of the joys of traveling by train with like-minded friends.
By the way, this vehicle has received multiple awards for its high manufacturing quality, beautiful appearance and comfort.

列車は木曽川に沿って走行します。
この辺りは風光明媚なドイツのライン川流域に準え、「日本ライン」といわれる景勝地です。
The train runs along the Kiso River.
This area is a scenic spot known as the “Nihon ( = Japanese ) Rhine,” comparable to the picturesque Rhine River basin in Germany.

美濃太田駅では長良川鉄道の車両が停車していました。
最近は、このようにかつての「国鉄車両」を模した塗装が地方鉄道で見られますので、個人的には楽しいかぎりです。
A Nagaragawa Railway train was parked at Mino – Ota Station.
Recently, the painting that imitates the “National Railway Vehicle” in this way is seen in the regional railway, so it is personally fun as well.

列車はさらに上流へと遡り、木曽川の支流である飛騨川流域を走行します。
The train continues upstream, running through the Hida River basin, a tributary of the Kiso River.
この付近は「飛水峡」と呼ばれ、美しい景色を眺めながらの旅となります。
岐阜から飛騨高山や富山に向かう時は、この風景を楽しめる進行方向「右側」の座席がオススメです。
ただし、名古屋駅から乗車されるときは「この列車が岐阜駅で方向転換をする」ため、「名古屋駅の出発時点では進行方向の左側」となりますので、鉄道会社のホームページで確認をしてくださいね。
This area is called “Hisui – Kyo” and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while traveling.
“Hisui-Kyo” means “a valley where water splashes.”
When heading from Gifu to Hida Takayama or Toyama, I recommend sitting on the right side of the train so you can enjoy this scenery.
However, if you are boarding from Nagoya Station, please note that “this train changes direction at Gifu Station” and “it will be on the left side of the direction of travel when it departs from Nagoya Station,” so please check the railway company’s website for details.

高山駅での運転士交代です。
飛騨高山はインバウンドの人たちに人気の場所で、この日も多くの旅行者が降り立ちました。
The driver is changed at Takayama Station.
Hida Takayama is a popular destination for inbound tourists, and many travelers arrived there on this day as well.

列車は富山を目指し、さらに北へと山中を走ります。
このあたりまで来れば、残雪が点在する風景となります。
The train heads towards Toyama and continues north through the mountains.
When the train reaches this area, the landscape is dotted with patches of remaining snow.

４時間近い山越えの走行も終盤を迎え、富山県の猪谷駅まで来ました。
背景の山脈から、この付近の険しい地形がうかがえます。
The nearly four-hour journey over the mountains was coming to an end, and we arrived at Inoya Station in Toyama Prefecture.
The mountain range in the background gives a glimpse into the rugged terrain of the area.

長旅を終え、富山駅に到着しました。
でも、この日の予定はさらに続くのです。。
After a long journey, we arrived at Toyama Station.
But the plans for this day continue.
