いつ以来だったでしょうか、ここのところ飛行機に乗っていませんでした。

ですので今回は新幹線ではなく、空の旅で東に向かいたいと思います。

I can’t remember the last time, but I haven’t been on a plane recently.

Therefore, this time I’d like to travel east by air rather than by Shinkansen.

朝６時の京都市の中心を流れる鴨川に架かる、四条大橋から北を望みます。

この時点で宇治の自宅をスタートして、１時間が経過しています。

新幹線を利用すれば自宅から東京までは約３時間ですが、今回はどのくらいの時間がかかるのでしょうか。。

Looking north from Shijo Ohashi Bridge, which spans the Kamo River flowing through the center of Kyoto at 6 a.m.

At this point, one hour has passed since I left my home in Uji City.

It takes about three hours to get from my home to Tokyo by Shinkansen, but how long will it take this time?

四条大橋に近い阪急電車の京都河原町駅には、車齢50年を越える往年の名車が出発を待っていました。

残念ながら、時間の都合でこの列車を利用することは叶いません。

Near Shijo Ohashi Bridge, at Hankyu Railway’s Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, a classic train car, over 50 years old, was waiting to depart.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I will not be able to use this train.

予約をしていたのは準特急のプライベース車両、初めての利用になります。

I had made a reservation for a special car on an limited express train, which will be my first time using.

車内の座席は３列で、とてもゆったりとした空間になっています。

The seats inside the train are arranged in three rows, creating a very spacious and comfortable environment.

シートの生地は阪急電車ご自慢の、モケットといわれる「アンゴラ山羊」の毛です。

この生地はプライベース車両のみならず、一般車両でも伝統的に使用されており、阪急電車の高級感を醸し出しでいます。

The seat fabric is made from Angora goat hair, a material that Hankyu Railway is proud of, and is known as “moquette.”

This fabric has been traditionally used not only in special carriages but also in regular carriages, contributing to the luxurious feel of Hankyu Railway trains.

Incidentally, the additional charge for this special vehicle, separate from the fare, is 500 Japanese yen, or a little over 3 US dollars.

この列車の前面展望です。

プライベース車両を予約していたのですが、早々に一般席である先頭車両に来てしまっています。。

This is a view from the front of the train.

I had reserved a special car, but I ended up in the regular seating car at the front of the train.

列車を乗り継ぎ、南茨木駅から空港まではモノレールの利用です。

この大阪モノレール、営業距離では日本最長とのこです。

I’ll be taking the monorail from Minami-Ibaraki Station to the airport, after changing trains along the way.

This Osaka Monorail is said to be the longest-running monorail in Japan.

この路線では、この空中回廊のような風景が楽しめます。(個人的には、高いところが少し苦手なのですが、、

On this route, you can enjoy views that resemble an elevated walkway. (Personally, I’m a little afraid of heights, though…)

大阪空港のひとつ手前、蛍池駅付近では、阪急宝塚線を眼下に見ることができます。

Near Hotarugaike Station, one stop before Osaka Airport, you can see the Hankyu Takarazuka Line below.

南茨木駅から30分足らずで、大阪空港に到着です。

もうすぐ始まる空の旅に、期待が膨らみます。

It takes less than 30 minutes from Minami-Ibaraki Station to reach Osaka Airport.

I’m getting excited for my upcoming flight.
