151 A friend’s music live in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

☆

November 2024.

A friend of mine who is usually active in the Osaka area performed at a live concert in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

I was told that alumni who are active in Tokyo, whom I have not seen for many years, would also be there, so I headed to the venue from Kyoto.

Although I have visited Tokyo often, this is the first time I have exited the ticket gates of this station.

I knew it was a large terminal to some extent, but it is much larger than I expected.

This was the only distance, but it took me about 10 minutes to reach the “near site” after getting off the Yamanote line.

The venue is on the second basement floor here.

The sign was a bit modest, so even in front of this I kept going back and forth for about 5 minutes.

This live performance was a tribute band for “Miki Imai” and lasted for one hour.

The band performed a wide range of music genres, but it was a very impressive live performance because they sang “that song” that we thought was probably not there.

And all the members were from the Kansai region, and they left Higashi-Osaka City by car at 3:00 a.m. that day to transport their equipment.

Before the show began, I had a chance to talk with alumni whom I had not seen since graduation, and we had a meaningful time together.

Although my visit to Tokyo this time was a bullet tour, with a “90-minute stay in Tokyo,” I was greatly inspired by seeing my classmates in action.

And that evening dinner.

The standard item on the Shinkansen to Kyoto: “Shiumai Bento ( = Steamed Meat Dumpling )” manufactured by Kiyouken, and Beer.

And for dessert, “Shinkansen Sugoku Katai Ice ( = Very hard ice cream sold at Shinkansen stations (used to be sold in the train )”.

The trip ended with the strongest collaboration of all.
