050 Encounter in Shinjuku (新宿での出会い).

鉄旅を終えた今日の宿泊地は、新宿にある京王プラザホテル。

今回の旅のもう一つの目的は、私の人生観を広げてくれたバーテンダーの方ゆかりの地を訪れることでした。

その方が活躍されていたのは45階にあるスカイラウンジ「オーロラ」でしたが、前回のコラムでお伝えしたとおり、高い場所がいたって苦手な私は２階に位置する、メインバー「ブリアン」にお邪魔しました。

(そして、このことが、とても幸運で大きなお出会いに繋がるとは、全く予想もしていませんでした。）

Today’s accommodation after the railroad trip is the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Another purpose of this trip was to visit a place related to the bartender who broadened my outlook on life.

That person was active in the sky lounge “AURORA” on the 45th floor, but I, who is not good at high places (I talked about in the previous column), is the main bar “BRILLANT” located on the 2nd floor.

(And I never expected that this would lead to a very lucky and big encounter.)

まずいただいたのは、「第三回　本格焼酎&泡盛　カクテルコンペティション」準優勝の作品の「桜日和（さくらびより）です。

梅酒と甘酒が加わった、厚みがありながらも、とても親しみやすいカクテルで、バーテンダーさんの熱意を感じました。

The first thing I received was “Sakurabiyori (The day of Cherry blossoms)”, the runner-up of the “3rd Authentic Shochu & Awamori Cocktail Competition”.

The bartender’s enthusiasm was felt in the thick yet very friendly cocktail with the addition of plum wine and amazake.

続いては、同コンペティションのファイナリスト作品、「せせらぎ」です。

レモンの風味と、檜の香りが漂う、とても爽やかなカクテル。

こちらは作り手の方のお人柄を感じるお酒でした。

素晴らしい時間を過ごさせていただいたこのバーには、お一人のベテランの社員さんがいらっしゃいました。

「もしかして」という思いから、その方に「私が懇意にさせていただいているバーテンダーさん」のお名前をお伺いすると、ご記憶でいらっしゃいました。

初対面の方に甚だ不躾ではありましたが、懐かしい表情をされ、私にとって素晴らしい時間となりました。

この時、改めて「バー」、そして「バーテンダーさん」の世界の魅力を感じることができました。

またひとつ、楽しみの世界が広がった夜でした。

I had a great time at this bar with a veteran employee.

From the thought of “maybe”, when I asked him the name of “the bartender I am intimate with,” he remembered him.

Although it was extremely unscrupulous to the person I met for the first time, he had a nostalgic look and it was a wonderful time for me.

At this time, I was able to feel the charm of the world of “bar” and “bartender” again.

It was a night when another world of fun spread.
