( A Trip to Toyama 2 / 3 )
富山、2日目の朝です。
Toyama, morning of the 2nd day.
この日は富山県西部を走る列車に乗る予定です。
On this day, I plan to take a train that runs through the western part of Toyama Prefecture.

高岡駅までの列車は、旧型車両・413系から改造されたイベント列車の「とやま絵巻」でした。
The train to Takaoka Station was the “Toyama Emaki,” an event train converted from the old Series 413 train.

高岡駅からは、万葉線に初乗車。
From Takaoka Station, the first ride on the Man-yo Line.
ピカピカの車両で、海を目指します。
I will head out to the sea in a shiny new vehicle.
この列車の運転を途中から受け持たれていた運転士さん、
The driver of this train was assigned to operate the train from the intermediate station,
停車時間の合間を縫って、僕に「観光ですかぁ？」と声をかけていただき、熱心に沿線の見どころを案内してくださいました。
She took time between stops to ask me, “Are you a tourist?” and enthusiastically guided me around the sights along the route.

海沿いの街まで来たので、富山新港の遊覧船に乗ることにしました。
Having reached the city by the sea, I decided to take a sightseeing boat ride at Toyama New Port.
奥に停泊している帆船は、1930年に建造された「海王丸」です。
The sailing ship anchored in the back is the Kaiwomaru, built in 1930.

遊覧船乗り場では、ネコがお出迎え。
A cat welcomes me at the cruise ship pier.
人馴れしています。「貢ぎ物」がなかったせいか、ご機嫌は「今ひとつ」のご様子でした。
He’s used to people. Perhaps because there was no “tribute,” his mood was not so good.

船が出航すると、カモメたちが近づいてきます。
As the boat departs, seagulls approach.

お目当ては、「この」お菓子。
They are looking for “these” snacks.
カモメのおやつは、国内共通のようです。(京都のカモメは、こちら。)

先ほどの万葉線の列車がやってきました。
The Man-yo Line train just arrived.
なにやら、見覚えのあるキャラクターが描かれています。
There is something familiar about this character.

次の目的に向かう駅で、先ほどの車両を撮影できました。
At the station heading to my next destination, I was able to photograph the train I had just seen.
このアニメの作者の方が地元のご出身ということで、このラッピングが施されているのですね。
This design was given to the cartoon’s creator because he is from your hometown.
