074 Green Pine ( Aomatsu ).

Since my last article was on “Akamatsu- train”, I will write about “Aomatsu – Train” this time.

The dark blue glossy body, always dignified.

Calm, wood-grained interior.

This train also features the distinctive personality of its designer, Mr. Eiji Mito-oka.

The seating arrangement also allows passengers to enjoy the coastal scenery along the route.

A little store is also attached.

Here, local products, “silk fabrics,” are on display.

A fukusa is used to carry a money envelope.

Many of you may already have this custom, but I think it is a wonderful Japanese custom to wrap your congratulatory gifts in “Kinpu” and carry them in this “Fukusa”.

A “kinpu” is an envelope in which money is placed for celebrations.

I used to use it only for weddings and funerals until I was assigned here, but now that I have been taught how to use it on a daily basis, I am able to have a richer mind.

My fukusas are also made by this Yamato company.

As I was thinking about the English translation of this article, I was once again prompted to ask myself the question I have been asking myself.

Pine leaves are “green” but called “blue pine”.

It is also called “(green) grass and trees thrive in blue.

The color of the signal indicating “may proceed” is called a “blue signal” even though it is green.

Furthermore,

I wonder why they chose “blue” instead of “green” for the body color of this train, even though it is about a pine tree with green leaves?

The Japanese language is a profound thing.
