175 Going home from Kyoto Station using only the route bus.

仕事終えた週末の京都駅。
今日は、いつもと違う方法で家路につきたいと思います。
At Kyoto Station on the weekend after work. Today, I’m heading home in a different way than usual.

電車なら京都駅から近鉄大久保駅までは13.6km、17時46分発の急行に乗れば18時03分には到着する距離です。
If you take the train, it is 13.6 km from Kyoto Station to Kintetsu Okubo Station, and if you take the express train departing at 17:46 you will arrive at 18:03.
同時刻の17時46分発、この京阪電車中書島駅行きの京都市バスでスタートです。
近鉄大久保駅への到着は、いつ頃になるでしょうか。。
I will be starting on this Kyoto City Bus bound for Keihan Chushojima Station, departing at the same time at 5:46 PM. I wonder what time I will arrive at Kintetsu Okubo Station.

バスロータリーを出て、京都駅正面の交差点を通過した時点で、時間はすでに10分経過の17時56分です。。
By the time I left the bus rotary and passed the intersection in front of Kyoto Station, it was already 10 minutes later, at 5:56pm.

京都駅東側の跨線橋を越える頃、同時刻に発車した近鉄電車は、大久保駅に着こうかという時間です。
ただ偶然だったのですが、バス「旅」のおかげで、こんなに素晴らしい風景に出会うことができました。
By the time the bus crossed the overpass on the east side of Kyoto Station, the Kintetsu train that departed at the same time was about to arrive at Okubo Station.
It was just a coincidence, but thanks to the bus “trip” I was able to see such beautiful scenery.

中書島駅までのほぼ中間地点、近鉄電車と京都市地下鉄の竹田駅に到着です。
ここまでおよそ30分。
日も暮れてきました。
The bus arrives at Takeda Station on the Kintetsu Railway and Kyoto City Subway, almost halfway to Chushojima Station.
It takes about 30 minutes to get here.
The sun is setting.

京都駅から１時間、京阪中書島駅に到着です。
ここで次のバスに乗り換えです。
It takes an hour from Kyoto Station to arrive at Keihan ChushojimaStation.
Here I change to the next bus.

バス旅が続く中、大阪へ向かう京阪電車を眺めての「鉄分補給」です。
As the bus journey continues, I get my iron supplementation by watching the Keihan train heading towards Osaka.
In Japanese, “railway” is expressed as “iron road”, so touching the railway is called “iron supplementation”.

旅の後半は、京阪中書島駅から近鉄大久保駅に向かいます。
乗車するのは、京阪電車グループの京都京阪バスです。
このバス会社の開業は1922年、京都府南部の宇治田原町で行なわれました。
日本緑茶発祥の地で生まれたバス会社ですので、今も車体の塗装は「緑色」を基本としています。
日本緑茶の開発は1738年に現在の宇治田原町で茶商・永谷宗圓翁によるものとされています。
そしてその末裔が現在の「永谷園」さんです。
For the second half of the journey, the bus heads from Keihan Chushojima Station to Kintetsu Okubo Station.
The bus I take is Kyoto Keihan Bus, which is part of the Keihan Electric Railway Group.
This bus company was established in 1922 in Ujitawara Town in southern Kyoto Prefecture.
As a bus company founded in the birthplace of Japanese green tea, the body paint of the buses is still primarily green.
Japanese green tea is said to have been developed in 1738 by tea merchant Nagatani Soen in what is now Ujitawara Town.

走行中の車窓風景ですが、最後まで見ると、何かを食べたくなるかもしれません。。
This is the view from the train window while traveling, but if you watch it to the end, you might feel like eating something.
この路線は当初京都市南部に隣接する久御山町が、京阪中書島駅を結ぶ路線として2004年の実証実験からスタートしたものです。
This line was originally launched as a demonstration experiment in 2004, connecting Kumiyama Town, adjacent to the southern part of Kyoto City, with Keihan Nakashojima Station.

京阪中書島駅から、およそ45分で近鉄大久保駅に到着です。
It takes about 45 minutes from Keihan Chushojima Station to Kintetsu Okubo Station.

京都駅をスタートしてから２時間の行程、新幹線ならば新横浜駅まで到達します。
そして、近鉄電車ならば17分の移動でしたが、大久保駅でバスを降りる時にはドライバーさんから「バスはお好きですか？」とお声がけいただき、私にとっては楽しい週末の小旅行になりました。
It takes two hours from Kyoto Station to Shin-Yokohama Station if you take the Shinkansen.
The journey would have taken 17 minutes if I had taken the Kintetsu train, but when I got off the bus at Okubo Station, the driver asked me, “Do you like buses?” and it turned out to be a fun weekend trip for me.

The blue and green lines show this trip’s route, while the red line shows the usual Kintetsu Railway route.
