168 A Reunion Trip of J.H.S. Railroad Club Vol.2 ( 5/6 ).

この場所が阿波海南駅に設置されている、DMVが一般道路から鉄道線路に切り替わる場所です。
( DMV = Dual Mode Vehcle とは、鉄道用の線路と一般道路の双方を走行できるように改造されたバス車両のことです。)
This is where the DMV switches from the public road to the rail line, located at the Awa Kainan Station.
( DMV = Dual Mode Vehcle is a bus vehicle that has been converted to run on both railroad tracks and public roads.

今回の旅のメインディッシュ、阿佐海岸鉄道のDMV車両がやってきました。
旅のメンバー５人全員が高揚しています。
The main dish of the trip, a DMV car of the Asa Kaigan ( = Coastal ) Railway, has arrived.
All five members of the trip are elated.

DMVが鉄道線路を走行しています。
とてもゆっくりとしたスピードのように感じられましたが、速度は時速60kmでした。
The DMV is traveling on a railroad track.
The speed was 60 km/h, although it seemed very slow.

終点付近の風景です。
阿佐「海岸」鉄道の名のとおり、海辺を走る路線でした。
本当はここでゆっくりしていたかったのですが、スケジュールの都合で「10分ほど」での折り返しでした。
This is a view near the end of the line.
As the name Asa “ Kaigan ( = Coastal )” Railway implies, the line ran along the seashore.
I really wanted to relax here, but due to a schedule conflict, we had to turn around in “about 10 minutes”.

そして、折り返しの復路で気づいたのですが、
このバス路線は、少しの区間だけ徳島県を出て高知県をかすめるように走行していました。
徳島県は大阪からも比較的近い印象ですが、高知県となると「遠くまで足を伸ばした」実感が湧いてきます。
This bus route left Tokushima Prefecture for a short section of the trip and ran through Kochi Prefecture.
Tokushima Prefecture is relatively close to Osaka, but when it comes to Kochi Prefecture, one feels as if he or she has “traveled far.

帰路の鉄道区間では、かつてこの路線を走っていた鉄道車両が「鉄道時代の駅の跡地」に保存されていました。
この線路は営業区間からは分離されており、この車両が走行することはありません。
On the return rail segment, a rail car that once ran on this line was preserved at the “site of a former railroad-era station.
This track has been separated from the operating section of the line, and these railcars do not run on it.

阿波海南駅に戻ってきました。
今度は鉄道線路から、一般道路への走行となります。
We are now back at Abakainan Station.
The bus will now travel from the railroad tracks to a public road.
