気候が良くなってきた５月、西へ向かって出発です。
In May, when the weather is improving, I am off to the west.

新大阪駅で列車を待っていると、お仕事中のワンコに出会いました。
While I was waiting for the train at Shin-Osaka Station, I met some dogs at work.
連れている方が飲んでいる水を、「私達も、飲みたいな。。」という眼差しが印象的です。
It was striking to see the look in the children’s eyes as they looked at the water their guide was drinking, saying, “We want to drink that too.”

新大阪から西の「山陽新幹線」では、こんな車両も走っています。
On the Sanyo Shinkansen line west of Shin-Osaka, trains like this also run.

私が利用するのは、鹿児島中央行きの列車。
途中の小倉まで乗車します。
I took the train bound for Kagoshima Chuo, and rode it as far as Kokura on the way.

九州新幹線に乗り入れる車両は、車内が東海道新幹線とは異なります。
普通車でも、片側２列ずつの座席配置です。
The interior of the Kyushu Shinkansen trains is different from that of the Tokaido Shinkansen. Even the regular cars have two rows of seats on each side.

普通車がこの座席。
新大阪から西へ向かうのなら、この車両がおススメです。
These are the seats in the regular car. If you are heading west from Shin-Osaka, I recommend this car.

九州のPRといえば、この方々の独壇場です。
この後、福岡県内各地のポスターで出会うことになります。
When it comes to promoting Kyushu, these people are the ones in charge. After this, I would encounter them on posters all over Fukuoka Prefecture.

昼食には、このお弁当をいただきます。
新大阪駅の新幹線改札内では見つけられなかったので、一旦、改札を出て買いに行きました。
もちろん、器はお持ち帰り。
かつて、このお弁当の製造工場をテレビ見ましたが、かなり丁寧に作り込まれたお弁当です。
For lunch, I had this bento. I couldn’t find it inside the Shinkansen ticket gate at Shin-Osaka Station, so I went outside the ticket gate to buy it. Of course, I took the Hello Kitty container home with me. I once saw the factory where this bento is made on TV, and it’s a bento that is made with great care.

山口県徳山市の港。
京都に住んでいると、海を見るたびにテンションが上がってしまいます。
ここまで来れば、九州まで、あと少しです。
The port of Tokuyama City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Living in Kyoto, I get excited every time I see the sea. Now that I’ve come this far, I’m just a short distance away from Kyushu.
