( A Trip to toyama 1 / 3 )
今回の目的地は、北陸です。
My destination this time is the Hokuriku region (the area on the Sea of Japan side of central Japan ).

京都からは、琵琶湖を右手に見ながらのスタートです。
From Kyoto, I started with Lake Biwa on the right.

来年(2024年)3月には新幹線が開業する、福井県の敦賀駅です。
This is Tsuruga Station in Fukui Prefecture, where the Shinkansen bullet train will open next March (in 2024).
新幹線が乗り入れる、新しい駅舎がほぼ完成していました。
The new station building, where the Shinkansen train will board, was almost completed.

金沢駅からは北陸新幹線に乗り、富山駅に到着しました。
From Kanazawa Station, I took the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Toyama Station.
北陸新幹線を走る「W7系」は、僕が好きな車両の一つです。
“The W7 Series” train running on the Hokuriku Shinkansen is one of my favorite trains.

富山地方鉄道の富山駅です。
Toyama Station of TOYAMA CHIHO RAILROAD CO., LTD.
( The word “chiho” means “region”. )
かつて京都から大阪まで走っていた、元京阪電鉄の車両が今回の旅の「一つ目のイベント」です。
A former Keihan Electric Railway car that once ran from Kyoto to Osaka is the “first event” of this trip.

富山駅の東隣、稲荷町駅に隣接する富山地方鉄道の車両基地です。
This is a railcar yard of Toyama Chiho Railroad located adjacent to Inarimachi Station, east of Toyama Station.
西武鉄道、京阪電鉄、東急電鉄で活躍していた車両たちが並んでいます。
Trains that were active in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto are lined up.
このように、各地の往年の車両が集まるところが、地方鉄道の魅力ですね。
This gathering of trains of yesteryear from all over the region is the charm of regional railroads.

そして、
And,
途中の駅で、ようやく原色塗装の「京阪特急」に出会えました。
At a station along the way, I finally met a “Keihan Limited Express” running between Kyoto and Osaka in its original color scheme.
堂々とした「鳩マーク」が、往時を彷彿とさせます。
The imposing “dove symbol” is reminiscent of a bygone era.
この車両が京阪電鉄でデビューした当初は、深夜時間帯の特急列車が「３両編成」で運行されていたので、この姿は当時を思い出させてくれます。(今の京阪特急は、８両編成で走っています。)
When this train debuted on Keihan Electric Railway, express trains were operated in “three-car formation” during late-night hours, and this appearance reminds us of those days.(Keihan limited express trains now run in 8-car trains.)

滑川駅から見た夕陽です。
This is the sunset from Nameri-kawa Station.
朝から動き回っていたのですが、楽しい時間はあっという間に過ぎてしまいます。
I had been moving around all morning, but the good times flew by.

そして、この日の締めくくり。
And the end of the day.
富山駅のお店で「白エビ」をいただきました。
I had “white shrimp” at a restaurant in Toyama Station.
手前は「生エビの剥き身」。
In the foreground is “peeled raw shrimp.
手作業で殻を剥かれているとのことで、1尾ずつ味わっていただきました。
They were shelled by hand and tasted one by one.
さらに、奥にある「素揚げ」は期待を裏切らない香ばしさを堪能させていただきました。
In addition, we enjoyed the “SU-A-GE white shrimp” at the back, which did not disappoint in its savory flavor.
(“SU-A-GE” means “deep-fry without breading or batter”.)
やっぱり、海沿いの街は「美味しい」です。
After all, a town by the sea is “delicious”.
