私の故郷の一つである、岐阜。
One of my hometowns, Gifu.
ここは、私の祖父母の出身地で、私にとってルーツの場所です。
This is where my grandparents came from and it is a place of roots for me.

JR岐阜駅北口広場には、かつて岐阜市内で営業していた名鉄の路面電車が保存されています。
A Meitetsu streetcar that once operated in Gifu City is preserved in the North Exit Plaza of JR Gifu Station.
実際には走行していない「静態保存」であっても、ここまで美しい状態を維持されているのは、関与されている方々のご尽力があってこそだと思います。
Even though the train is in “static preservation,” which means that it is not actually running, it has been maintained in such a beautiful state thanks to the efforts of all those involved.
この路面電車が走っていた頃の岐阜市内のように、この駅前もさらに活気づくことを願っています。
I hope that this station front will become even more vibrant as it was in Gifu City when this streetcar was running.
では、次の目的地である、岐阜駅の南側に行ってみましょう。
Now let’s go to our next destination, the south side of Gifu Station.

本日のメインディッシュ・サカエパンさんに到着です。
I arrived at today’s main dish, Sakae Pan (bakery).

歴史を感じるお店で、「おいしいネ」の看板に偽りなし。
The store is steeped in history, and the ” 0i shii – ne ! ( It’s delicious! ) ” sign is authentic.
本当に美味しいんです。
It’s really good.

ネーミングにも特徴があります。
The naming is also unique.
「惣菜系のパン」には「くん」がついています。
The “prepared breads” are named like boys.

そして「甘いパン」には「ちゃん」がついています。
And the “sweet bread” is named like a girl.
お店の方のパンに対する愛情が強く感じられますね。
I can strongly feel the store owner’s love for their bread.

これは暑い日に嬉しい、「アイスパン」。
This is “iced bread,” a delight on a hot day.
デニッシュ生地のパンにアイスクリームがはさんであります。
Danish dough bread with ice cream.
このパンの名前にも「ちゃん」がつけられています。
This breads are also named like a girl.
こちらのお店のパンを、こうしていくつかご紹介しましたが、どれも本当に美味しいものばかりです。
I have introduced some of the breads from this store in this way, and they are all really delicious.
私はパンには詳しくないのですが、おそらく素材には、かなりのこだわりを持たれていて、原価率もかなり高い(=良い原料を使い、リーズナブルな価格で販売されている)のではないかと思っています。
I am not familiar with bread, but I believe that they are probably very particular about their ingredients and their cost ratio is quite high (= they use good ingredients and sell them at a reasonable price).
かつて、こちらのパンを買って帰った時のことです。
Once, I bought some breads from this store when I went home.
移動中の持ち方が丁寧でなかったせいか、家に着いた時のパンは「ぺったんこ」になっていました。
Perhaps because I was not careful in how I held the bread during transportation, the bread was “flat” when I arrived home.
全く知識がないので、不正確な推測ですが、このようになってしまった原因は、こちらのパンには添加物が使われていないか、ごく少量だからなのではないかと思いました。
I have no knowledge of this at all, so this is an inaccurate guess, but I thought that the reason this happened might be because there are no additives or very small amounts of additives used in this bread.
もちろん、パンの美味しさにはなんの変化もなく、改めてオーブントースターで温め直すと、素晴らしい味が復活しました。
Of course, there was no change in the deliciousness of the bread, and when I reheated it in the toaster oven, the wonderful flavor was restored.
いずれにしても、製品に対する愛情がとても大きなお店であると感じました。
In any case, I found the store to have a great love for its products!
このお店は岐阜駅南口からすぐ近くの場所で、名古屋駅から岐阜駅までは20分ほどで行くことができます。
This store is located just off the south exit of Gifu Station, and it takes only about 20 minutes to get from Nagoya Station to Gifu Station.

岐阜まで来たので、岐阜城にも来てみました。ちょっと、暑かったです。。
Since I came all the way to Gifu, I also visited Gifu Castle.It was a little, hot.
この岐阜城が建つ金華山に登るロープウェイでは、乗務員さんが案内放送をされるのですが、その方の発声、腹式呼吸がとても素晴らしいもので、ここでも感動を覚えました。
On the ropeway up to Kinkasan, where Gifu Castle stands, the attendant gives a guided tour of the mountain, and his vocalizations and belly breathing are so wonderful that I was moved here as well.

This is the view from the castle tower. Somewhere in this picture you can also see a place related to my ancestors.
この地・岐阜は、私の数ある「故郷」のひとつの場所。
This place, Gifu, is one of my many “hometowns”.
これからも大切にしたいと思います。
