豊川駅での乗り換えです。

Transfer at Toyokawa Station.

予約をしておいた、「特急・伊那路」に乗車します。３両のコンパクトな編成です。

Take the reserved “Limited Express Inaji”. It is a compact organization of 3 cars.

豊川駅を10:18に出発です。

Departs from Toyokawa Station at 10:18.

今回の行程は、次の区間です。

This process is the next section.

列車は豊川や天竜川などの川沿いに北上してゆきます。

The train goes north along rivers such as Toyokawa and Tenryu River.

途中の迂回部分が気になりますが、そこは後ほどお伝えします。

You may be concerned about the detour part on the way, but I will tell you about it later.

豊川の支流、宇連川(うれがわ)の鳳来峡です。

It is the Horai Gorge of the Uregawa River, a tributary of the Toyokawa River.

この付近は川底が板を敷き詰めたようにも見えるので「板敷川」とも呼ばれているようです。

It seems that the riverbed is covered with boards in this area, so it is also called “Itashiki River”. ( “Itasiki” means “lay a board”.)

涼しげな水の流れに癒されます。

I was healed by the cool stream of water.

一見、穏やかな川の流れで、夏場はこの場所で水遊びでもできそうな光景です。

At first glance, it is a gentle river flow, and in the summer it is a sight that you can play in the water at this place.

でも、こういうとこって水流が強かったり、川底で滑ったりして危ない場所だと思うので、このように眺めているのがいいんでしょうね。

However, I think it’s a dangerous place because the water flow is strong and it slips on the bottom of the river, so it’s better to look at it like this.

中部天龍駅を出発したところです。

The train has just left Chubutenryu Station.

ここは1991年から2008年まで、JR東海さんが運営されていた「佐久間レールパーク」という施設があった場所です。

This is the place where there was a facility called “Sakuma Rail Park” operated by JR Central from 1991 to 2008.

現在は名古屋市内の「リニア・鉄道館」へ、その役割をバトンタッチしていますが、当時は旧式車両も展示されていて、屋外の留置線にある車両に触れることができた楽しい場所でした。

Currently, the role is being touched to the “SCMAGLEV and Railway Park” in Nagoya City, but at that time, old-fashioned trains were also exhibited, and it was a fun place to meet the trains on the outdoor detention line.

そして、後方の建物は「佐久間発電所」です。今も重要な社会インフラであることが伺えます。

And the building behind is “Sakuma Power Station”. We can see that it is still an important social infrastructure.

先ほどの地図にもあった、この路線の迂回部分です。

This is the detour part of this line, which was also on the map above.

従来、旧国鉄飯田線は中部天竜駅から大嵐(おおぞれ)駅の区間において、上の地図の点線部分を走行していました。(この地図では表示の都合で一部実際のルートとは異なる部分があります。)

Previously, the section from Chubutenryu Station to Ozore Station on the former Japanese National Railways Iida Line ran on the dotted line on the map above. (There are some parts of this map that differ from the actual route due to display reasons.)

しかしながら1956年に完成した佐久間ダム工事により、当該区間が水没することになったため、長大トンネルを２本掘削し東どなりの水窪川渓谷を通る路線に移設されたのです。

However, due to the construction of the Sakuma Dam completed in 1956, the section was submerged, so two long tunnels were excavated and relocated to a line that passes through the Misakubo River valley on the east side of the old line.
