４時間近い特急列車の次に向かったのは、富山地方鉄道の「電鉄富山」駅。
(この文章を作りながら今さらですが、ふと思ったのですが「富山《地方》鉄道」なのに、なぜ「《電鉄》富山」駅なのか、、と思ってしまいましまた。旧社名に由来するのですね。。）
After a nearly four-hour express train ride, my next destination was Dentetsu Toyama Station on the Toyama Chiho Tetsudo ( = Railway ).
(As I was writing this, I suddenly wondered why the station is called “Dentetsu ( = Electric railway ) Toyama” when it’s called “Toyama Chiho Tetsudo ( = Toyama Regional Railway)”… I guess it’s derived from the old company name.)

この駅では同じ線路上に、２本の列車が停車しています。
限られた空間で工夫された、この駅の特徴です。
At this station, two trains are stopped on the same tracks.
This station’s unique features are a testament to its ingenuity in utilizing limited space.

次に乗る列車です。
This is the next train we’ll be taking.
かつては京都←→大阪を疾走していた、京阪電車の特急車両です。
メンバー全員が懐かしい想いに浸る中、約１名は「個人的な理由」で大盛り上がりでした。
富山地方鉄道の普通列車は、いつ、どの車両がやってくるかがわからないので、出会えてほんとうによかったです。
では、ここから普通列車で２時間かけての宇奈月温泉駅までの旅が始まります。
This is a Keihan Railway express train that once ran between Kyoto and Osaka.
While all the members were reminiscing about the past, one person was particularly excited for “personal reasons.”
Since you never know when or which train will arrive on the Toyama Chihō Railway’s local lines, I was really glad to have encountered this particular train.
Now, our journey to Unazuki Onsen Station by local train begins, a two-hour ride from here.

電鉄富山駅の東隣り、稲荷町駅に隣接する車両基地。
首都圏、大阪圏を卒業した車両たちが並んでいます。
A train depot located east of Dentetsu Toyama Station, adjacent to Inarimachi Station.
Trains that departed from the Tokyo and Osaka metropolitan areas are lined up in the depot.

この路線が上市駅でスイッチバックとなっていることが、わかります。
You can see that this line makes a switchback at Kamiichi Station.

上市駅では、⬆️の地図の上部から来た電鉄富山駅行きの列車と並びます。
おそらくこの銀色の車両は、かつて首都圏を走っていた東急電鉄からのものだと思われます。
At Kamiichi Station, you’ll see the train bound for Dentetsu Toyama Station, which came from the top of the map above, alongside ours.
This silver train car is likely from the Tokyu Railway, which used to operate in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

行き違い列車の横並びです。
Two trains going in opposite directions are lined up side by side.

私たちが乗っている列車は進行方向を変えて、分岐器右側の路線に進んでいきます。
The train we’re on will change direction and proceed onto the track on the right side of the switch.

上市駅を過ぎると、右手には3,000m級の山並みが連なる「立山連峰」を望むことができます。
After passing Kamiichi Station, we could see the Tateyama mountain range, with its peaks reaching over 3,000 meters, on our right.

やがて列車は海沿いのエリアに入り、日本海を垣間見ることができます。
並行する線路は、北陸新幹線の開業によりJR西日本から経営分離された「あいの風とやま鉄道」の路線です。
Eventually, the train enters the coastal area, offering glimpses of the Sea of Japan.
The parallel railway line belongs to the Ainokaze Toyama Railway, which was separated from JR West’s management following the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
“Ainokaze” means the northeasterly wind that blows through this region from spring to summer and “brings happiness.”

新黒部駅と接続する、北陸新幹線の黒部宇奈月温泉駅です。
手前に見えているオレンジ色の電気機関車と客車は、この先こ宇奈月温泉駅から走る黒部峡谷鉄道の展示用車両です。
この時期はオフシーズンで運休中ですが、営業期間中は予約が難しい人気列車です。
This is Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line, which connects to Shin-Kurobe Station.
The orange electric locomotive and passenger cars visible in the foreground are display vehicles for the Kurobe Gorge Railway, which will run from Unazuki Onsen Station further ahead.
Although it’s currently the off-season and not operating, it’s a popular tourist train that’s difficult to book during its operating season.
宇奈月温泉駅に到着です。
後ろに見えるのは黒部峡谷鉄道の車両。
私たちはこのまま折り返しの列車で宿泊地の魚津市にむかいますので、この駅での滞在時間はおよそ30分です。
We have arrived at Unazuki Onsen Station.
The train visible in the background is a Kurobe Kyokoku ( = Gorge ) Railway train, which originates at this station.
We will be taking the return train to Uozu City, where we will be staying overnight, so our stay at this station will be approximately 30 minutes.
