185 A Reunion Trip of J.H.S. Railroad Club Vol.3 ( 1 / 8 )

今年で３回目を迎えた、中学校の鉄道部時代の同級生達との旅。
前回までは５人でしたが、昨年５月に1人が遠くへ旅立ち、4人での行程になっています。
This year marks the third time we have traveled together with classmates from our junior high school railway club.
Until last time, there were five of us, but one of us passed away forever in May of last year, so now we are just four people on the journey.

私のスタートはいつものJR奈良線、朝の新田駅からです。
I start my journey from Shinden Station on the JR Nara Line, which I always use, in the morning.
★
目指す目的地は富山。
往路は北陸新幹線を使わないルートです。
Our destination is Toyama.
The outbound route does not use the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

まずは、京都行きの普通列車です。
First, take a local train to Kyoto.
★
今回の旅は、ひとつの場所での集合ではなく、順次4人が合流する形です。
On this trip, instead of gathering in one place, the four of us will meet up one after the other.
京都駅では一人と合流し、まずは２名で滋賀県の米原へと向かいます。
I met up with the first person at Kyoto Station, and the two of us headed to Maibara in Shiga Prefecture.

途中駅でさらに、もう一人と合流。
彦根駅では３名で、「近江鉄道ウォッチ」です。
We met up with another person at a station along the way.
At Hikone Station, three of us are watching the Omi Railway.

米原駅であと一人と合流。
フルメンバーで、さらに東へと向かいます。
We met up with one more person at Maibara Station.
With our full team, we head further east.

途中の近江長岡駅では、特急「ひだ」の追い越しがあります。
当初はこの列車に京都から乗車する計画でしたが、「京都➡️飛騨高山」という外国人観光客にすこぶる人気のルートであることと、２両編成かつ指定席は１両といったプラチナチケットだっため、発売後すぐの完売となり入手がかないませんでした。
走り去る列車の車内を見ると、自由席車両は通路まで立っている方々で溢れていました。
At Omi-Nagaoka Station along the way, the Hida express train will overtake us.
Initially, I had planned to board this train from Kyoto, but because the route “Kyoto ➡️ Hida Takayama” is extremely popular with foreign tourists, and because it was a platinum ticket with two cars and one reserved seat, it sold out immediately after going on sale and I was unable to get one.
Looking inside the train as it passed by, the unreserved seating car was filled with people standing all the way to the aisles.

岐阜県に入って大垣駅では、カラフルな樽見鉄道の車両が待機していました。
樽見鉄道はかつての国鉄ローカル線から官民出資で地元経営の第三セクター鉄道の先駆け的な存在です。
そういえば、この樽見鉄道については、大学の卒業論文で触れていました、私。
As we entered Gifu Prefecture, colorful Tarumi Railway trains were waiting at Ogaki Station.
Tarumi Railway is a pioneering third-sector railway that was formerly a local line of the Japanese National Railways and is locally run with public and private investment.
( A third-sector railway is a railway operated under the “third sector method” with joint investment from local governments (first) and the private sector (second). They are mainly established to maintain unprofitable former JNR and JR lines and parallel conventional lines, protecting the routes that local residents rely on.)
Come to think of it, I mentioned the Tarumi Railway in my university graduation thesis.

岐阜駅北側の広場です。
かつて岐阜市内を走っていた電車が保存展示されています。
次の列車への乗り継ぎ時間に制限がある中、メンバーの強いリクエストで立ち寄りました。
結果は期待どおりの「大喜び」で、なによりです。。
This is the square on the north side of Gifu Station.
Trains that once ran through Gifu City are preserved and on display.
We stopped by at the strong request of our members, as we had limited time to catch the next train.
The result was as expected, “great delight,” which is the best thing.

そして、さらに予想を超えた盛り上がりを見せたのは、岐阜市内を代表するベーカリーの「サカエパン」さん。
And Sakae Pan, one of Gifu City’s most famous bakeries, showed even more excitement than expected.
何気にメンバーにこのお店をアナウンスしたところ、「強い食いつき」で駅の反対側まで足を伸ばしました。
みんな、たくさん買ってたね。。。
When I casually mentioned this restaurant to the other members, they were so interested that we ended up heading all the way to the other side of the station.
Everyone bought a lot…
