今回は、かねてから気になっていた神奈川県相模原市にある「レトロ自販機の聖地」を訪れました。
This time, I visited Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the most famous location in Japan for classic-style vending machines that serve meals, which I had been interested in for a while.

降り立ったのは、JR横浜線の相模原駅。
I got off at Sagamihara Station on the JR Yokohama Line.

この駅からは神奈中バスで、約30分の場所です。
It takes about 30 minutes by bus from this station.

最寄りの「相模原浄水場」のバス停に降り立ち、振り返って見ると、、、
I got off at the nearest bus stop, “Sagamihara Jousuijo (Sagamihara Water Purification Plant)” and looked back…

そこには、京都でよく見る「いつも」のお店が目に飛び込んできました。
先日、千葉県「京成成田駅」の前にあった、「餃子の王将」に出会った時のように、大きな高揚感が私を包み込みます。
There, I noticed a ramen restaurant I often go to in Kyoto called “Rairai-tei.”
A great sense of elation overcomes me, just like when I came across Osho in front of Keisei Narita Station in Chiba Prefecture the other day.
Osho is a Chinese restaurant chain that originated in Kyoto.

現地に到着です。
立ち並ぶ自販機の数に圧倒されます。。
I’ve arrived at the site.
I was overwhelmed by the number of vending machines lined up.

レトロ自販機といえば、この麺類が王道でしょうか。
When it comes to classic Japanese meal vending machines, this noodle vending machine is the most famous.

そんな中、私の目に止まったのは、この「トーストサンド」でした。
Among them, what caught my eye was this “toast sandwich.”

手作り感満載のトーストサンド、美味しくいただきました。
そしてポップコーンは、近くの基地から訪れていたであろう米兵の方に人気でした。
The toasted sandwiches were delicious and had a homemade feel to them.
The popcorn was also popular with American soldiers who were likely visiting from nearby bases.

カレーライスの自販機は、関西の落語界の大御所姿もありました。
The curry rice vending machine also featured a big name in the Kansai Rakugo world.
Kansai is a part of western Japan, centered around Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe.
Rakugo is traditional Japanese comic storytelling.

さらに、この時、我が国の防衛大臣が食され、どこを探しても見つからなかった「よこすか海軍カレーラーメン」の姿もありました！
Furthermore, there was also the Yokosuka Navy Curry Ramen, which was eaten by our country’s Minister of Defense and which could not be found anywhere else!

さらにさらに、鉄道車両までもが売られているとは！
What’s more, they even sell train cars!

お酒の自販機には、ドクターペッパー。
何から何まで、感動が続きます。

From start to finish, the excitement continues.

結局、ここでのメインディッシュは、上がりすぎた高揚感を抑えられず、、
In the end, I couldn’t contain my excitement over the main dish…
先ほど発見してしまった、地元京都でいただいているラーメンとなりました。。
どこに行っても、溢れる地元愛。
when I got off the bus, I discovered this ramen that I enjoy in my hometown of Kyoto.
